# DOT Panel

The shared operations board for your DOT department.

DOT Panel is built for the work that happens between a report coming in and the roadway being cleared. Instead of tracking crews in one place, equipment in another, and incidents somewhere else, the panel keeps those pieces connected.

## The main parts of the panel

## How records move through the system

A typical job starts as either a work order or a public report. Crews are assigned, statuses are updated as the response moves along, and the record is completed or cancelled when the job is over.

Tow requests and road closures follow their own status flows, but the idea is the same: the panel should show what is happening **right now**, not what was true twenty minutes ago.

The panel works best when crews and supervisors update statuses as the operation changes. Accurate statuses are what make the dashboard useful.

## A few boundaries to know

* Templates create work orders only.
* Attachments are available on work orders only.
* There is no separate Analytics page; the useful operational totals stay on the dashboard.
* Permission groups are managed in the ImperialCAD Admin Panel, not inside DOT Panel.
* Deleted records are marked deleted and removed from normal views.
